Get ready to clear out some closet space, because you’re about to snap up every piece from YanYan, a newly launched knitwear brand out of Hong Kong. The direct-to-consumer venture is the brainchild of two longtime fashion industry friends: Phyllis Chan, the former director of knitwear at Rag & Bone, and Hong Kong designer Suzzie Chung. The brand (which means “everyone” in Cantonese) is filled with whimsical dresses, embroidered separates, and enough eye-popping neon that the street-style set won’t be able to help themselves.

The collection, which uses Italian and Japanese yarns, as well as Scottish lambswool (read: soft and cozy), incorporates details like hand embroidery and pineapple knots that pay homage to their heritage. Says Chung, “We wanted to design something that was nostalgic. It’s quite a personal exploration for us, and we hope people will find a connection with that.” Given that Chan’s father worked for Esprit in the ’90s, and Chung’s mother dabbled in macramé, clay, and other various crafts, it’s easy to spot their respective fashion influences in their debut line.

The founders may describe the collection as eclectic grandma, but we have no trouble imagining the millennial set rocking a pair of their sweater joggers and matching hoodie. The modern silhouettes elevate what could be quite youthful rainbow embroideries and transform them into enviable and undeniably cool closet staples.

With spring temperatures remaining cool and grey, it’s the perfect time to pick up a cozy layering sweater—we recommend the Rosebud Grandpa Cardigan—and don’t forget a multi-color knit tote. We doubt you’ll be able to walk down the street without someone demanding to know where you got your outfit.
