2019 is Yalitza Aparicio’s year. No one can say any different. The star of the multi-nominated Netflix film Roma is one of the most anticipated wins of the night. We’re rooting for her! Before she stepped out onto the red carpet for the biggest night of her career (thus far)—in a custom silver-dotted mint-green Rodarte gown, Jimmy Choo clutch embellished with a Rodarte flower, and the icing (no pun intended) on the sartorial cake, Forevermark diamonds—she hung out with family and friends who flew in from Mexico to celebrate. Of course, her glam team—Carissa Ferreri on makeup, Matilde Campos on hair, and Cov alum Sophie Lopez on the fashion—were there, too. Since we couldn’t squeeze into the suite ourselves, Lopez gave us a peek inside by way of her camera roll.

“The dress is custom Rodarte, her jewels are Forevermark diamonds, the clutch is Jimmy Choo customized with a Rodarte flower, and the shoes are Brian Atwood.”

“I wanted to find a dress that felt like Yalitza and embodies her spirit. Fresh, youthful, and unique. And no one embodies those things more than Rodarte. It was pure joy working with Laura and Kate [Mulleavy]. Their imagination and passion is infectious. It was the perfect dress.”

“The jewels are Forevermark diamonds. Yalitza and I decided on stunning yellow diamond earrings and a ring to complement the mint dress and the soft feel of the look.”

“We usually have music on and keep it pretty calm! Today was busy, as friends and family were here from Mexico, lots of excited energy!”

“I do my last checks on the dress [right before we leave]! And I hand her the clutch. And we try and squeeze in the phone, but it rarely fits. Ha.”
