Shop 15 Pieces Inspired by Ugo Mozie’s Nigerian-Meets-L.A. Style

Patterned suits and sandals make for the best outfit combo.

By: Carolina Dalia Gonzalez

Ugo Mozie goes beyond the job description of a stylist, acting as both a creative manager to his clients, and a fashion activist. Not only has he styled celebrities like Justin Bieber and Adonis Bosso, but he’s paying it forward to the next generation of rising talent in Africa with his non-profit, WANA. We got the chance to dive into Mozie’s multiple closets at his Laurel Canyon home, and between the statement sneakers, glittering accessories, and an eye for pattern mixing, it became clear that Mozie doesn’t subscribe to any set outfit formula—his look is entirely his own. Read more below to discover his 15 most essential pieces so you can curate a similarly stunning wardrobe.

1. Invest in a power suit

We couldn’t take our eyes off Mozie’s dreamy jacquard Dries Van Noten suit. Whether you wear it for evening or lounging around the Hollywood Hills with your friends, it’ll be sure to make heads turn. Wear the set together, or pair the blazer with a classic pair of slacks to make the most of your investment.

2. Top it off with a classic hat

Another staple in Mozie’s closet is his extensive collection of hats—an obsession that has even led to his own capsule collection. The stylist knows that it takes a certain level of sophistication to pull this look off, but don’t be afraid to try it out for yourself. Top off a fall outfit with a classic black wool-felt piece. Or maybe even reach for a bright red style, if you dare.

3. Add a pair of slides for extra comfort

Mozie advocates for comfort regardless of the occasion, which explains his sizable collection of slide sandals. Now a 21st-century fashion statement—seen on Kanye West and the like—slides have become an elevated yet comfy shoe for the sartorial set (especially when paired with that statement suit). Take a cue from Mozie’s collection, and purchase a pair, or two, or three.
