One of the best things about New York is that from street level, you can never really be sure what youre looking at. The city is proof of not being able to judge a book by its cover. For example, when we visited Stila founder Jeanine Lobell’s home to talk about her legendary career—as you may remember, she famously painted the face of Hillary Clinton on the cover of Vogue—we had no idea she lived in a decorators dream town house. We were so blown away we had to capture every last inch of it.

Like, say, her neon green kitchen, which she swatched from a flower shop and features a custom birdcage in homage to her hometown of L.A. Or the living room with plush lilac lived-in couches, stacks of coffee tables, and oversized Oriental rugs. And that’s just the beginning of it. Then again, she is a beauty mogul, so playing with color is part of the job.

Click through below to see the crazy color she painted her entrance and to find out how she describes the aesthetic of her home.
