4 Ways to Improve Your Memory

In my former life as a teen, I could list the names of everyone in my senior class on command and recall just about every trivial detail of my life. At least that’s how I remember it. But now, the more years and information my brain eats up, the more it seems to fail me. You, too? In an attempt to ward off my lapsed memory and to clear my BF (uh, brain fog), I scoured the internet—something I’ve gotten quite good at since my fading recall—to find out if there is any way I could improve it. Answer: There is a way (four of them!), and you don’t have to remember anything to make it happen.
Literally the best and easiest way to strengthen your neurons—the connectors in your brain—is to get in more z’s. If you do one thing, make it this.

...is the way the cliché goes. It’s not a novel notion: Exercising your mind is the best way to keep it sharp. Get into coloring (if you haven’t already hopped on that bandwagon), download Sudoku or crossword puzzles on your phone to do on the subway, read (!), or get some other mind-challenging hobby.
Your brain needs food just as much as the rest of your organs. Blueberries are rich in antioxidants that keep the brain from getting inflamed, and leafy greens are packed full of vitamin C and other phytonutrients that help keep memory loss at bay. Omega-3 and DHA-rich fish oils can also help your brain grow new neurons.
Take a few minutes to sit still and focus. We’re bombarded with so many stimulants that it’s hard to spotlight one thought. Daily exercises and controlled breathing will help you concentrate on one thing and one thing only.
