This Recipe Is Just As Good For Your Vagina As It Is For Your Gut

Treat it extra special.

Food
vagina recipe

We’ve heard a lot about probiotics for gut-health and skin-health and overall health, but let’s call a spade a spade here—probiotics are good for your vagina. They help prevent yeast infections and keep the *happy* flora *happy*. Sure, probiotics also help with digestion (since we’re going there that means they help keep things regular), but vaginas really love them.

But that’s not the only food they love! Turns out, they love chia and avocado, blueberries and cinnamon—and spirulina, too! All of which are blessedly contained in the below smoothie recipe crafted for us by Nicole Berrie of Bonberi.  Here’s her recipe for a candida-blasting, alkalinity-promoting, fertility-boosting, and cramp-easing smoothie.

Cacao Mint Smoothie Bowl:

“When dealing with any sort of yeast or candida issues, my first rule of thumb is to temporarily cut all sugars and grains from my diet since sugar thrives on sugar! When you temporarily remove grains and high-sugar fruits, which are normally amazingly cleansing and alkaline, your body can eradicate the overgrowth of candida. I love this smoothie bowl because although it’s sugar and grain-free, the chia and avocado are super creamy and satisfying while delivering major omegas that can promote fertility and ease menstrual pain. The greens like spinach, fresh mint and spirulina boost alkalinity while cinnamon and low-sugar blueberries are amazing for anti-inflammation. By adding your favorite probiotic to the already fermented coconut yogurt you get a double good bacteria whammy for balancing the pH of the vagina and combatting any yeast/candida issues. Plus the cacao and mint combo make it taste like a milkshake!”

Ingredients:

1 ripe avocado
2-3 tablespoons of cacao powder
1 cup of coconut yogurt (I like Anita’s)
A few leaves of fresh mint
1/2 cup unsweetened non-dairy milk (almond or oat works well)
1/2 cup of frozen blueberries
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
Contents of 1 capsule of your fave probiotic (Renew Life makes a great one for women’s vaginal health)
1 cup of packed baby spinach leaves
Stevia to taste

Toppings:

1 tablespoon of chia seeds
1 tablespoon of cacao nibs
1 tablespoon Sunfood spirulina crunchies (or any spirulina powder)
1 tablespoon of unsweetened shredded raw coconut
Fresh blueberries
Fresh mint

Directions:

1. Blend smoothie bowl ingredients until creamy.

2. Add stevia to sweeten as you like.

3. Pour smoothie into bowl.

4. Arrange toppings as you like in little rows on top of the smoothie.

5. Garnish with fresh mint.

Enjoy right away!
