The Facial Steamer That Changed My Life

It’s under $200 and will make your skin glow more than any highlighter ever could.

Skin problems are real, and when the weather can't seem to make up its mind, they’re that much more in-your-face (quite literally). I’ve been having quite the battle with my skin over the past few years, but I finally feel like in the past few months I’ve been getting things under control, even when traveling between climates. I’ve mastered both my AM and PM routines, and there is now something else I depend on a few times a week. A little something called the Pro Facial Steamer by Dr Dennis Gross.

I have combination skin, and the site advises to use the steamer for 12-15 minutes for that type of skin, so I do just that. I use it twice a week, usually once in the evening after I have a shower and thoroughly cleanse my face, and then a second time on the weekend after I follow the same routine. If I am going to be having drinks at any point in a week, I time it so that I am using the steamer the morning after because let me tell you, that is when it feels the most amazing (makes sense, considering that’s when your skin is the most dehydrated). I fill the small water tank with distilled water and then sit there for the full 15 minutes, allowing the steam to hit every part of my face and my neck (never forget your neck, guys). Following the steam, I immediately apply my serum and moisturizer, letting it all seep into my freshly hydrated pores.

Trust me when I tell you that this steamer makes my skin effing glow. I kid you not, within seconds of finishing the steam, my skin is plumper (in a good way) and glowing like I just walked in the door from a one-night stand. If I could use the thing every damn day, I most definitely would, but, like all things in life, it’s good in moderation. I wouldn’t want to be using the steamer so often that it would end up doing my skin more harm than good, so I keep it to max twice a week. But just know that these days don’t come quickly to me; it’s as though I’m waiting on Christmas morning every week, twice a week. You may think I’m crazy for saying that, but honestly, don’t knock it till you try it. Having good skin is priceless to me and this little device ensures that it stays that way. Bless you, Dr Dennis Gross.
