A Wedding That Brought Ibiza to New York and Broke All the Rules

Everyone wore white and the bride wore a bedazzled bodysuit.

Rachel Katzman didn’t just use champagne to toast at her wedding—she also wore it in her hair. As the founder of Cuvée beauty, a hair care line that bottles bubbly for hair spray, shampoo, and conditioner, Katzman just doesn’t do ordinary.

When it came to planning her wedding, she knew she wasn’t going to follow any of the rules. For her ceremony gown she chose the second dress she tried on (a Vera Wang) and let everyone else in her party wear white. Her after-party look was a bedazzled Julien MacDonald bodysuit, and she later changed into an all-white workout ensemble. For inspiration, she looked to a city often associated with bachelor and bachelorette parties: Ibiza.

Katzman got engaged in a Paris alleyway to Stephen Pasterino, a spot chosen because of her love for Woody Allen’s Midnight in Paris. (They sat on the same steps as Gil, Owen Wilson’s character, when he travels back in time.) So it was only fitting that the wedding had a European theme. Katzman wanted the night to start out elegant and timeless and get darker and sexier as it got later, in order to resemble the atmosphere of European nightlife. She even flew her favorite DJ from Ibiza to NYC for the occasion.

There were dancers painted in gold and crowns handed out to guests. The nuptials were a fairy-tale affair with a hashtag to match: #PrincessandtheP—P being Pasterinos nickname, and the princess being Katzman, of course.

Click through to read how she got the custom bodysuit of her dreams, why she ended the night in leggings and a sports bra, and what went into the design of her fairy-tale Olympia Le Tan bag.
