These Are the Biggest Boot Trends of the Season
With 40 pairs from classic to flashy, there’s something here for every taste.

One of the things we get most excited to buy every fall is a fresh pair of boots (or four). This season, it seems there are more choices than ever in terms of trends to get on board with. Whether your preference is for something super season-specific and trendy, or you’d rather invest in a timeless pair (yes, timeless can also be trendy), here are our 40 favorite pairs.
WESTERN-INSPIRED
Cowboy-inspired boots were all over the fall runways, but I think we can thank Chloé’s classic Susanna bootie as the real start of the Western trend.
COMBAT
Not that combat boots really ever went anywhere, but this season we’re seeing them everywhere. Blame it, perhaps, on the practical lug-sole, and the past few years of icy, slushy winters.
METALLIC
We credit Balenciaga for starting this trend, but this season, a mirror-finish boot is the perfect accessory to dress up any outfit.
VELVET
We love velvet on anything—especially our boots.
TALL
“Tall” means knee-high or higher (Balenciaga makes a pair so high, they’re literally trousers). We’re wearing ours with flowy dresses and midi-skirts this season.
WHITE
White boots were one of the biggest trends we noticed from NYFW street style. Whether you go flat or high-heel, you can’t go wrong.
RED
The other color we saw everywhere this season? Red! In flats and spiky stilettos, red boots are huge this fall.
RIDING BOOT
This trend hasn’t broken out—yet, but we’re calling it as a sleeper for this season, and likely a big one next season. There’s something about classic riding boots that feel right in the midst of so many flashy trends.
