I Had My Energy Read and All It Took Was a Selfie

I Had My Energy Read and All It Took Was a Selfie

Over the past few years, weve seen a definite spotlight put on all things spiritual, new-age, and witchcraft. Maybe it’s because weve exhausted all other ways of trying to figure our shit out, or maybe were simply becoming more open to different avenues of self-love, healing and spirituality. And while I can be skeptical (I’m sure I’m not the only one), I’m all for it. So when energy healer Carolyn Harrington offered me a custom personal energy evaluation, I went for it.

The process goes a little something like this: You email Harrington a photo of yourself (aka snap a quick selfie), and she reads the energy that is flowing through your body to let you know of any ailments below the surface, what may be blocking your healing, along with potential remedies. One thing to note is that Harrington is not a doctor: “I am not a doctor. I could never sit there and say, you have diabetes or you have hypertension—I cannot name a disease. No one allows you to list a disease unless you have a license, and I do not have a license,” she explained to us. “I’m not a psychic, but I can tell what resonates with your energy. We know with quantum physics that we are all energy beings—everything in the universe is energy, and everything resonates at different frequencies. What I do is, if you had energy going through your body without being inhibited at all, you’d be in perfect health. If you come in contact with something that is not good for your body, it will disrupt your energy.”

Harrington evaluates your photo while sitting in a room where she keeps 700 small vials filled with water. “In these waters are different frequencies—I’ve got a ton of them for any part of your body, and it really gets down to a detailed level,” she explained. “Then I have these sets of vials that are for what we call disease-causing agents—all of your viruses, bacteria, fungus, chemicals. I have vials for nutritional elements, and the last set—there are 38 of them—for negative emotional states that could affect your health. I test your energy to see which ones you resonate against, I pull those together, and it starts to tell a story about what’s going on in your body and what’s going on with you.”

A few days after sending my photo to Harrington, I hopped on a call with her to discuss her findings. What Harrington gathered from my photo was that I have a sensitivity to a spice and chemicals, the chemical most likely coming from a cosmetic (no shocker there, considering I try a handful of new products almost every week). “It’s affecting your nervous system and something in the spleen, which would be your immune system,” she told me. As for the spice, Harrington said, “That spice seems to wreak havoc on your nervous system.” The last thing she discovered through my reading was “some overgrowth of bacteria that is in your blood, affecting your nerves.”

If Im being totally honest, although I was interested in the evaluation before getting into it, I was a little hesitant, and perhaps not being as open-minded as I should have been. But in the end, the truth is that I have been having skin issues, and my doctor recently told me I may have a problem with my nerves. Call me crazy, but I’ve got to hand it to Harrington: she sort of hit things right on the head. All in all, an intriguing experience. You know what they say: you’ve got to try everything once. Right?
