We’re Officially Calling This the Biggest Trend of the Oscars Red Carpet

It’s definitely not what we expected!

In the weeks leading up to the Oscars, we always hope that someone goes way out on a limb and shows up in something like a Gucci finale gown, or maybe custom Delpozo. Something wild, bold and above all else—colorful! Which is why we’re so surprised by what seems to be the biggest trend on this season’s red carpet—and even more surprised that we’re as into it as we are: there are more stars showing up in black, white or silver than we can count.

Maybe it’s because we’ve been living with maximalism in fashion for so long now that we’re enjoying a little palette cleanser, but whatever the reason, we’re all for it. Here are some of the best monochrome looks of the night.
