Burberry Closed Our London Fashion Week In The Most London Way Possible
And we loved every second of it.
Burberry’s February 2017 show (which is see now, buy now, by the way should you feel the irresistible urge to make any of these pieces yours) was classic Burberry in the sense of is Britishness. Designer Christopher Bailey took inspiration from sculptor Henry Moore—whose renowned sculptures dotted the show space—and English singer Anna Calvi, backed by a full on orchestra, provided the live soundtrack.
But that’s about as much “classic-ness” as we got from the brand. There was little to no trace of the signature Burberry plaid, and old-school signifiers of English style (cable knit sweaters...er, jumpers...and trench coats) were re-worked in abstract new shapes. There were also hints of the artists’ personal style, seen in a blue set of men’s work pants and jacket (which we’re desperate to wear ourselves), and blue boiler suits—which model Iris Law did make her own for the front row.
