Backstage at Altuzarra

What it takes to be a sweaty, glittery mermaid.

Backstage at Altuzarra

Each season, Altuzarra is one of our favorite fashion shows (not to mention one of our favorite brands to spend allll our riches on), and this season the show was delightful, as usual. We’ll put it this way, when you can describe one of the looks as a fruit-embellished, sparkly, tiered evening gown, we’re in A+ territory.

Beyond the clothes, the hair, makeup and nails (Essie, by celebrity manicurist Julie Kandalec) was incredible. We heard it described as sexy mermaids which, considering the hair was wet and the skin was covered in a light sheen of glitter, sounds pretty spot-on. Lead makeup artist Tom Pecheux (possibly the loveliest person on the planet), who was working with M.A.C., described the look as, “a naughty, sexy woman,” and Odile Gilbert, Kérastase Paris Consulting Hairstylist, said of the hair, “it’s definitely sexy... it’s that moment when you get out of the water at the beach, and you push your hair back.” To which we say, can it be an Altuzarra summer forever?
