How to Caffeinate Like Gigi Hadid

We’ll be the first to admit: there are very few things that make us happier than a great big cup of of wake-me-up-so-I-can-function coffee on a Monday (Tuesday, Wednesday—you get the gist) morning. It’s not often that I seek an alternative to my usual morning cuppa, but when one presents itself in the form of a Beverly Hills Hotel meets Havana setting, I won’t deny that I’ll jump immediately on board.

Which is where Cha Cha Matcha comes in. Born after a trip to Japan where founders Conrad Sandelman and Matthew Morton engulfed themselves in all things finely ground green tea powder, they brought their newfound passion back to Nolita, which lead to what essentially amounts to a liquid social media takeover of your various feeds.

If you don’t already know about the bright green powder, matcha is essentially a ground up, high-quality version of green tea. One cup of matcha has the benefits of 10 cups of green tea. Aside from giving you a serious metabolic boost (minus the jitters and crash) and being rich in antioxidants (hi, glowy skin), matcha is said to have detoxifying and anti-aging properties. Needless to say, Cha Cha’s iced version of the drink has found it’s place in the daily pick-me-up hour at Cov HQ this summer.

But this is no regular old iced matcha. This is an iced lemonade matcha, which, we promise, will become your go-to pick-me-up for the rest of the summer. Additional bonus: it tastes like ice cream, and it’s easy AF to make.

Ingredients

2 grams of Cha Cha Matcha (house blend from Uji)
6 oz. house blend lemonade
2 oz. of pure alkaline filtered water
Handful of fresh mint leaves
1 squeezed lime
1 squeezed lemon

Put matcha, water, lemonade and mint in shaker. Shake, strain and pour over ice.
