Warning: The Most Delicious Edibles Recipe Ever

One of the biggest plusses of being part of Team Cov is having insider access to pretty much any topic you can think of. Want to know where Caroline Issa buys donuts ? Done. What about how to get your shit together in 60 seconds ? We figured it out. However, this next thing we’re going to share might interfere with your efforts when it comes to the latter. When we say we have access to everything, we mean everything, including gourmet-level 4/20 appropriate ~*edible treats*~. Let’s just say we went deep into our Rolodexes (by Rolodex we meen Instagram feed) to tap New York’s premiere source for insanely tasty (and insanely potent) Mary Jane snacks. We won’t reveal our source—we’ll just call her The Green Fairy—but she gave us the lowdown on how to make some magical butter, and then turn it into a dangerously delicious (Ed note: please, really, proceed with caution!) treat. Fair warning: this isn’t your mother’s Puppy Chow! Enjoy responsibly.

The Green Fairy Magical Butter

“There are many ways to prepare cannabis butter, oils and tincture infusions. Some take less than an hour, while others take up to three days. The difference between methods is in potency and yield in proportion to how much THC is absorbed into the fat content or binding agent being used. THC (Tetrahydrocannabinol) is activated by heat, and once activated or ‘turned on’ it can be used as an addition to any of your favorite recipes. Always be aware of portion sizing, however! 10 mg per person is my suggestion for an appropriate dose.

Here are two versions of a simplified approach to making your very own cannabis infused butter.”

The Quickie

Yields 60 servings (10 mg/tsp)

Supplies:

¼ cup ground or finely chopped Mary Jane
½ cup butter
Metal strainer / coffee filter / cheesecloth
Mason jar with sealed lid

Recipe

1. Using a double boiler or a small saucepan, melt the butter on low heat. Slowly mix in the greens, stirring frequently. Small bubbles at the edges will start to form, be sure to scrape the sides and continue mixing on and off for 45 minutes.

2. Remove from heat and allow to cool for 10 minutes, and continue to stir. Place the strainer of your choice over the opening of the mason jar, and pour the mixture through the strainer into the jar. Squeeze any excess butter through the top of the strainer and discard the extracted greens. This straining process can be done 2-3 times depending on how clear you would like your extract to be.

3. Seal with lid and immediately chill in the refrigerator.

Decarboxylation + Quickie Brew

Yields 60 servings (11 mg/tsp)

[Ed Note: Decarboxylating your greens is optional, but recommended to help reap ~*all their benefits*~]

Supplies

¼ cup ground or finely chopped Mary Jane
½ cup butter
8 x 8’’ sheet pan
Metal strainer / coffee filter / cheesecloth
Mason jar with sealed lid

Recipe

1. Preheat oven to 225-240 degrees.

2. Spread out Mary Jane onto a flat surface in pan, place in oven.

3. Using a fork, sift through the greens every 10 minutes for 45 minutes.

4. Remove from oven. Let cool.

5. Proceed with ‘The Quickie’ recipe

Now that you have the butter, let’s make some Puppy Ciao!

Yields 15 cups with 35 total servings

(each dose is approximately 1/3 cup)

Ingredients

3 tbsp The Green Fairy Magical Butter©
2 tbsp regular butter
¾ cup smooth peanut butter
1 ¼ cup chocolate chips
¾ tsp vanilla
10 cups Rice Chex Cereal
3 ½ cups powdered sugar
¼ tsp sea salt
2 quart Ziploc bags

Recipe

1. Turn on your favorite playlist. I personally LOVE to bake to The Notorious BIG. Seriously, turn it on.

2. Set aside 10 cups of Rice Chex Cereal in large bowl, place alongside measured powdered sugar and 2 Ziploc bags.

3. Melt 3 tbsp TGF Magical Butter and 2 tbsp of regular butter in a small saucepan over low heat, mix in peanut butter and chocolate chips until well blended. Mix until creamy with no lumps, but do NOT over-cook.

4. Remove from heat. Mix in vanilla and a sprinkle in sea salt.

5. Pour mixture over Chex while stirring, making sure to coat each piece evenly. Some pieces will crumble—that’s okay!

6. Pour 1 cup of powdered sugar into each Ziploc bag, and divide the mixture into the two bags. Add in the remaining powdered sugar and shake it to the beat of your favorite song!

7. If chunking occurs, break the chunks into smaller pieces and add some additional powdered sugar.

8. Sprinkle with sea salt. Serve by 1/3 cup portions.

9. After you have your first serving, wait at least 45 minutes to 1½ hours before consuming more. [Ed note: Wait two hours to be safe.]

10. Continue dancing! Enjoy!
