“I think there’s two [pieces of advice I’ve ever received]; there’s one that I’ve known for a long time and another that’s a little bit recent. Maya Angelou said that, ‘If someone shows you who they are, believe them.’ That’s probably the most sage wise advice out there. But I asked John Hamm what’s the best piece of advice he ever received, and he said, ‘stop talking.’ At the time I was like, wow, that’s actually pretty good. We’re here to listen and learn from everybody else so we can learn to become better people and we don’t need to listen to us we know what we’re thinking, so stop talking and listen. But only recently did I realize that maybe he was actually saying ‘stop talking.’ (laughs) It might be a great piece of advice or it may have been him just telling me to shut up. I don’t know.”
