Skincare Resolution #1: Never Wake Up With Eye Bags Again

When it comes to skincare, it's all too easy to slide into a groove once you find something that works for you. And while that's all good and fine, when new concerns (ahem, WTF, wrinkles?) start cropping up, it's time for a change. Which brings us to this week's resolutions: introduce new, science-y, clinically-informed skincare solutions that can go toe-to-toe with professional procedures and treatments, into Team TC's beauty routines with a little help from our friends at Sephora. Here goes nothin'!

"While I know that everyone is their own worst critic—my under eye situation is a legitimate concern. Dark circles, puffiness, fine lines, crow's feet, bags... you name it, I got it. The problem of bad under eyes has plagued women in my family for many generations, and judging by what I see in the mirror (especially first thing in the A.M.) it doesn't seem to be slowing down any time soon.

On a mission to solve this problem since my mid-20s (when gravity, drinking, pizza, and life in general first started to take a toll) I have tried various and methods and creams to rectify the situation. Cucumbers, preparation H (TMI?), serums, massagers, you name it—it's been in my medicine cabinet. So it comes as no surprise that I was somewhat skeptical when approached with the Murad Eye Lift Firming Treatment. While I have found that some thing's do work better than others, this is a product I am 100% adding to my regime. In full disclosure—I even gave some to my Mom (same problem!) and she loved it, too.

In fact, I tried this magic three different times to see how it would help me in different situations.

The first time I cracked open the box was right after my usual night time regimen. I applied the cream and the pads and let them rest for 10 minutes as I lay in bed. I removed the pads, tapped the rest of the serum into my skin, and then it was off to la-la land. When I woke up and looked in the mirror there was a definite difference. My eyes are always puffiest and darkest in the mornings, and they were much firmer and lighter. SOLD.

The next time I used the pads in the morning, to see how my eyes would fare the rest of the day. I applied them after my morning shower and thoroughly enjoyed the obligatory extra 10 minutes I had to sip tea and watch some news before having to get dressed. While the result was not immediate, by the time I looked in the mirror when I got to work, my under eye area was much more firm and lifted than its usual state. The effect continued throughout the day and I personally thought I looked more awake during the usual 3 P.M. slump. No caffeine necessary.

Lastly, I used the treatment before a night out. After a long day, the majority of it spent staring at a computer screen, my eyes are extra tired. Sometimes the last thing you want to do after a busy day is go out—and my face ALWAYS shows that. I thought this would be the perfect opportunity to put this product to the test. And it worked. Even though my entire body was longing for my bed, my eyes weren't giving that away. Not one bit.

Overall, I really enjoyed using this one. Whipping it out before bed two or even three times a week is totally manageable for me, and it did have some of the most impactful results I've seen yet—and I've been around the block. This baby is a keeper!"
