How To Fix Your Brows in 60 Seconds

We’ll be the first to admit it; we’re kind of into this whole liberating body hair movement and the suddenly freed-up time that comes with it. And guys, we can thank the bold, bushy, only slightly tamed brow for starting it all (and finally making pin-thin overarched brows a thing of the past). But as much as we’re for letting things go, uh, completely, we’re well aware of the need for just a tiny bit of maintenance. What you thought bold brows were just allowed to go buck-wild? Pssht.

So instead of waking up with zigzagged caterpillars resting on your forehead or a fuzzy shadow slowly connected your left and right brow (yeah, not really the look you were going for, right?) give us 60 seconds with Cov-alum Anastasia Soare, the woman behind the enviable arches of the Kim K., Naomi Campbell and Oprah (NBD!), to school you (and us) on how to tame our unruly bold brows.

On what you should do when you wake up with brow-bedhead

(it's a thing):

"Wash your face, then smooth a conditioning treatment over brows. Apply your foundation, concealer, and contour, and by the time you’re ready to do your brows, it will have absorbed. Next, apply Brow Primer to help smooth hair and encourage powder to adhere."

On the tools you need to tame and style:

"For grooming, a pair of scissors, tweezers, and Stencils are essential. For styling, a brow pencil like Brow Wiz, Brow Powder Duo, Brush #7, and Highlighting Duo Pencil are my go-tos."

On what to do if you don't have time to go to the salon:

"You can always tweeze stray hairs, or conceal them with a thick concealer. A priming wax also tames wayward hairs and helps them look more groomed and polished."

On trimming those brows:

"[Trim your eyebrows once every three to four weeks, depending on how quickly your hair grows. Comb your brows upward with a spooley brush, then carefully trim from the top, moving slowly. You can always take more hair off, but you can’t put it back!"

On how to fake the most natural brow look:

"For the most natural look, I recommend layering. Pencil in sparse areas or outline brows with Brow Wiz, then create hairlike strokes with a Brow Powder Duo or DipBrow Pomade for a multidimensional finish."
