The Best Spiked Sweet Tea Recipe

Exactly what you were looking for for #SundayFunday

The Best Spiked Sweet Tea Recipe

We’ll find any excuse to day drink (it's five o'clock somewhere... harhar). And the #SundayFunday meme exists for a reason; we strongly believe in using every last email-free moment to the max, which, let's be honest, is usually best done with some finger-lickin’ BBQ chased down with sweet tea—and pretending that we're spending Sunday in New Orleans. But when it comes to how to spike it, we went straight to Alex Tellez of Electric Mud, our local BBQ joint, to show us how to make it just right. Try to limit yourself to just one. We dare you.

FAVORITE DRINKING SOUNDTRACK:

“Anything from ZZ Top. Blues inspired rock is always a good listen.”

LIQUOR OF CHOICE:

“Gin. The smell of it brings me back to visiting my grandparents; every night they would have a gin martini after diner. It’s good straight up or with a splash of vermouth.”

COCKTAIL OF CHOICE:

“A Beefeater Gin Martini. With an olive. I am a very nostalgic person.”

MOST MEMORABLE COCKTAIL:

“A Manhattan—it was my first big boy cocktail. The first time I had it was at Swan Restaurant when I was 21, made by Tom Earl. At that time I had no idea you could do anything with rye other than mix it with Coca-Cola.”

BEST HANGOVER CURE:

“Chocolate milk and bananas.”

PERSON YOU WOULD MOST LIKE TO DRINK WITH:

“Harpo Marx. I’m not a social person, so someone who could entertain with little to no conversation.”
