Editors' Picks: The Swimsuit Edition
JK, models not included. Pretty beachwear is, though.
You know when it’s Friday and the weekend is so close, you can practically taste the salty ocean air (or tequila #nojudgements) and have two days of pending email radio silence? So. Many. Feelings.
As for us, we’ll be packing up our pompom Sensi woven straw totes and heading to the nearest beach as soon as it hits 5 P.M. sharp. What we're filling them with? You know how we feel about SALES, and The Outnet just so happens to have a pretty effing good selection of all things beach-y. It's basically asking us to stock up on swimsuits. And with that, we're out—there are margs that need drinking.

I have two sartorial obsessions: bathing suits and shoes. I have to say, the latter is probably the hardest one to rationalize living where we do, you know, with our two minute summer and all. But hey, we make the most of it. So I’ll be wearing this insanely pretty Miu Miu one-piece to the rooftop pools and will likely pair it with my 501 cut-offs for some park chills. Like I said, my other vice is shoes, specifically Dolce & Gabbana anything. No really, go back into our archival Editor Picks and you’ll see a blatant trend…so I’m not about to change things now. Oh, and this Alexander Wang t-shirt dress is practically the most versatile thing in my digital shopping bag: shirt, dress, AND beach cover-up :+1: :+1: :+1:

My rather excessive collection of black bikinis would say otherwise, but the summer is pretty much the only time I actually wear and, gasp, mix prints. I guess the miniature size of this Lisa Marie Fernandez suit (this is the perfect bikini cut, IMO) helps the situation when it come to pairing it with these somewhat overpowering (but easy and breezy) Temperly pants. Add these Thierry Lasry frames and some fluffy reading material and I'm ready for an extra slow day on the beach.

You've heard it time and time again: "Every woman needs a black dress in her closet..." Well, I'm hear to tell you otherwise. What every woman really needs is a black bikini in her weekend bag ready to go at a moment's notice—the best plans aren't planned, amiright?—because when you're semi-naked in front of complete strangers, it's the sartorial version of a safety blanket. Black is everything; it's chic as, etc. etc. Pulling on a crisp cotton dress and settling in with a tumblr full of summer water (rosé, guys) is my absolute favorite way to end a vitamin D-filled day out on the water. For me, it's the warm weather equivalent of crawling into a freshly washed bed of sheets. As for the sandals, well, I have this thing in the summer where I literally refuse to wear shoes. Like, ever. No shirt, no shoes, no problem in my books (most establishments would disagree). If I must, though, it will be these braided Valentino sandals in claret. Which is English for bordeaux. Which means wine. That is all.

My beach look can be summed up thusly: two parts refined, one part Ms. Frizzle. This Lisa Marie Fernandez is the neutral outfit base to end all neutral outfit bases: pared down, airy and so fresh and so clean, clean. Topping it off with a pair of leather-trimmed (!) sunnies from The Row gives it the dash of Carolyn Bessette (read: LOL, I wish) vibes, no Cape Cod fantasy is complete without. But the bubble gum pink and teal metallic Charlotte Olympia clutch in the shape of an actual fish (with scales for anatomical accuracy) keeps the whole thing from feeling... well, boring.
