NYFW Daily Debrief: BCBG Max Azria

Orlando Pita breaks down what we've come to call "turtleneck hair."

Fashion Week
NYFW Daily Debrief: BCBG Max Azria
That's right: like peanut butter and jelly or Frank and Claire Underwood, we're at it again. This season, we've hooked up with Tresemme (the official hair sponsor of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week––you fancy, huh), the inimitable, iconic Orlando Pita and Something Navy's Arielle Nachmani to bring you behind-the-scenes breakdowns of each show's hair looks. Get your blowdryers ready, set... we're off!

For all of the finagled Uber mishaps, awkward attempts at seatmate conversation ("some weather we're having, huh?") and Instagram envy that's become synonymous with fashion week; there's nothing quite as validating as having a designer send a fleet of girls down the runway who just appear to... get it. Like an IRL manifestation of your hair inspo board on Pinterest.
You see where this is going, right? Because the above pretty much describes exactly what went down at BCBG Max Azria's Fall 2015 show, where they pretty much had the cool-girl-Parisian-in-an-oversized-turtleneck-hair nailed. As for how the alliterative "tousled tuck" actually came about?
“We wanted the hair to feel very undone and to play with the natural texture of our models’ hair. I’m feeling really inspired by the shift this season towards more wearable, subtle styles that feel very lived in and organic," explained Pita, sea salt spray in hand. To duplicate the whole Daria-Werbowy-ain't-got-nothing-on-me thing at home, read on.

The Tousled Tuck

1. Start by washing your hair using Perfectly (un)Done Weightless Moisturizing shampoo and conditioner and towel dry.

2. Spritz through the Perfectly (un)Done Sea Salt Spray from root to tip. Rough-dry hair with a blow dryer and scrunch with your fingers to activate the Perfectly (un)Done Sea Salt Spray. Focus on building volume at the roots.

3. For extra volume, massage a small amount of the Runway Collection Max the Volume Root Lifting Cream into the roots.

4. Pull hair into a low pony and secure with a thin elastic. Pull out small pieces of hair around the hairline to frame your face.

5. Finish the look by spraying Perfectly (un)Done Ultra Brushable Hairspray for flexible hold. Tuck the pony flat into a rollneck jumper.
