We’ve tested many a said-to-be indelible stain, stick and gloss here at TC HQ, and don’t get us wrong, there have been some worthy contenders (say, lacquers that pass the latte-cup test but fail miserably at sticking to the right person mid-makeout. And yes, if you were wondering, we do call this ‘work’). But we’ve yet to find the kind of product that has us staring in the mirror at the end of the night, perplexed as to how on earth our lips managed to stay intact through it all.

So when it came down to finding a product with staying power that’ll have our dinner dates wondering whether our lips are naturally Ruby Woo, we took our dilemma straight up the ladder.

Here’s what a few of our go-to makeup artists prescribed.

“Make Up For Ever makes the best long lasting lip color I have ever used. One side is a creamy liquid and the other side is a gloss. It can be a bit dry and sticky, so you kind of have to use the gloss end, but I tend to just blot down the gloss as I prefer a matte red lip. This color DOES NOT BUDGE. You can even eat pasta with butter or have a full on make out session and it won't come off. It's amazing."

"Hourglass Cosmetics' Opaque Rouge Liquid Lipstick has amazing staying power. A lot of long lasting lipsticks are so dry they require a lipgloss on top to give moisture. This product stays on when you eat and drink but is still moist enough that your lips will look lush rather than dry and cakey."

"I am completely obsessed with the Sephora Liquid Lip Stains. I am normally not a fan of lip colors that are long lasting only because they seem to always make lips look chapped and flaky, but when I first saw the Sephora Lip Stain in 01 Always Red I literally stopped a woman on the street.
