Unexpected shapes like takeout cartons, rhombi and rectangles resembling hardcover books elevate these everyday beauties to street style proportions. When in doubt, our motto? This season, it’s bye-bye body con and hello third cupcake. And by that we mean dresses that play more on shape, pattern and volume than on showcasing the exact diameter of your waist. We can’t be the only ones thanking our lucky Starbucks that it’s socially (and street-stylistically) acceptable to sport elevated sweatshirts this season. Opt for chunky turtleneck sweaters, elegant origami-esque drapery, and unexpected weaves, like the sure-to-be-Face-Hunted Alexander Wang bubble-wrap knit we’re itching to sink our fingers into.

Okay, so now that you’re street-styled to the tens, we’re going to do the opposite of what Coco Chanel tells us and put one more thing on before leaving the house (one look at this season’s playful accessory assortment and we think Queen Coco’d forgive us). We’re all about the colorful collars embellished with enamel and fur, braided statement necklaces and rose-gold Eugenia Kim beetle headbands (aka the only kind of bugs you’d ever want in your hair).
