Sense and Scents-ibility

The unisex scent we can't get enough of right now.

Sense and Scents-ibility

See that label? Yup. All handmade. Insert innuendo about a man being good with his hands here.

There's nothing quite like seeing a designer's interpretation of something classic—all the way from Olivier Rouesteing of Balmain's take on the jean jacket to Phoebe Philo's rendition of the formerly lowly Birkenstock sandal. And it's the same fascination with reinvention that is the inspiration behind Barneys latest beauty project.

In collaboration with a selection of their best and brightest, the behemoth department store will be tasking their chosen talent with taking on and personalizing the same fragrance decanter and working with a perfumer to create their own tailor-made scent. The first? A collaboration with designer-slash-Mick-Jagger's-beau L'Wren Scott (not a bad way to kick things off, huh?). Next up? None other than Greg Lauren (nephew to Ralph, F.Y.I). Lauren took the concept behind the project quite literally, hand-distressing each and every single bottle cap with a hammer, chlorine and sandpaper, splashing paint across each bottle and hand-writing the label himself on masking tape with a Sharpie. Insert innuendo about a man being good with his hands here. Oh, and even better? Lauren's fragrance, formulated with fancy-shmancy perfumer Ralf Schwieger, is unisex, made with tonka beans, vanilla and "marine notes"; so, yes, you can share it with your boyfriend... or be selfish and keep it all to yourself. You do you.
